The Cloud4SAMS development team met on November 19 and 20 at the IFB-core premises on the CNRS campus in Villejuif for a hackathon dedicated to innovation and the evolution of the project. Two days of intense work to offer even more features for our digital infrastructure. The ultimate goal? To provide scientists with a secure computing and storage environment for processing microbiome data and matching it with health data (personal and sensitive).

During this Hackathon, participants were able to put their skills to work for Cloud4SAMS, in particular by proposing the developments necessary to integrate several microbial metagenomics bioinformatics applications and pipelines into the IFB-Biosphère cloud:

– Identification des ressources Biosphère utiles aux développements ;

– Identification of Biosphere resources useful for development;

– Utilisation des outils de pipelines et workflow standards en bioinformatique ;

– Use of standard bioinformatics pipeline and workflow tools;

– Development of scripts for integrating bioinformatics software based on an existing Biosphere app;

– Testing of completed versions;

– Description of appliances in the RAINBio catalog with metadata standards.

Much more than just an intensive work session, this hackathon provided an opportunity to test new ideas, roll out new strategic developments needed for the Cloud4SAMS project, and strengthen ties within the development team.
