Project description
The PHENET project aims to integrate European research infrastructures (RIs) on plant phenotyping, ecosystem experimentation, long-term observations and data management, as well as bioinformatics. To this end, the goal is to develop new digital tools and methods to characterise the performance of combinations of species, genotypes and agricultural practices in anticipation of the most likely climate scenarios across Europe. Aiming to go beyond current RI facilities, the services developed from PHENET provide broad access to phenotypic and environmental data acquired in situ:
- New multi-sensor, multi-character devices based on artificial intelligence (AI)
- Open access to high-resolution satellite data integrated with field observations
- Support for FAIR principles for data management
- A new generation of predictive modeling solutions including AI and digital twins
News
End of 2025
- Launch of a working group to extend the MIAPPE standard (developed by ELIXIR and EMPHASIS) to expand the capacity for exchanging high-throughput phenotyping data. This work is being carried out in collaboration with EMPHASIS.
- Coordination of activities around life sciences data (WP4).
