Project description
Research data management (RDM) is essential to the implementation of FAIR principles and Open Science. ELIXIR platforms, nodes and other structures have invested in RDM, resulting in the creation of valuable tools and resources. The RDM community aims to bring together RDM professionals to coordinate ELIXIR activities and develop its vision.
The short-term objectives are as follows:
- Create a forum for knowledge sharing,
- Coordinate the RDM ecosystem,
- Focus on RDM training and data brokerage.
To achieve these objectives, DATAREX will facilitate knowledge sharing, develop resources for RDM service providers, coordinate RDM training and content, and make recommendations for improving data brokerage services. This project will empower RDM professionals and contribute to improving research data management practices.
Participation of ELIXIR-FR:
- WP2 – Knowledge management and training in RDM
- WP3 – Capacity building for RDM services in ELIXIR nodes

End of 2025 – Publication of the final report of the DATAREX project.
In 2025 – ELIXIR France participated in and contributed to the results of WP3 deliverables – Capacity building for RDM services in the following ELIXIR nodes:
- D3.1 An initial version (MVP) of the knowledge manual for RDM service providers: Data Steward Handbook.
- D3.2 An initial version (MVP) of the maturity model for RDM service providers and other documentation on the maturity model (data standards, DMP).
- Implementation of the maturity model in the Data Stewardship Wizard.
